The ultimate kit for pre- & post-application moisture testing of concrete slabs, wood and various other floor covering materials. Featuring the Tramex CMEX II digital concrete moisture meter for testing per ASTM F2659 and 3 best in class reusable Hygro-i ® relative humidity probes for testing relative humidity, temperature and dew point in the environment, or performing or performing BS 8201, 8203, 5325 & ASTM F2170 (or Hood Method with optional Hood) for relative humidity readings in concrete slabs. An infrared surface thermometer is included for testing surface temperatures and can be used in conjunction with the Hygro-i ® probe to monitor dew point conditions. Also featuring the Tramex WME for moisture measurement in wood and wood-based products in both non-invasive and pin-probe mode. The WME incorporates adjustable specific gravity selection, wood species calibration and temperature correction to accurately read the Moisture Content in a variety of wood species. Calibration check salts are included in the Flooring Inspection Master Kit, which comes in a protective heavy-duty carrying case with die-cut foam lining.

A handheld electronic moisture meter used for testing moisture conditions in concrete and other floor slabs and screeds. Versatile, precise and easy to use, the Tramex CME4 allows the user to make multiple tests over a large area in the shortest possible time.

Product Design

The CME4 Concrete Encounter detects and evaluates the moisture conditions within the slab or screed by non-destructively measuring the electrical impedance. A low frequency electronic signal is transmitted into the material under test via the electrodes in the base of the instrument. The strength of this signal varies in proportion to the amount of moisture present in the material. The CME4 determines the strength of the current and converts this to a moisture content value for concrete slabs and a comparative value for other cementitious floor screeds, displayed on a large clear analogue dial.

HOW IT WORKS

OPERATING PROCEDURE

To carry out tests simply brush any dust from a smooth area of concrete and also from the electrodes, switch on the Concrete Encounter CME4 and place it firmly onto the surface, fully compressing the spring-loaded, signal-enhancing contacts on the base. Read the moisture content from the clear analogue dial.

The CME4 is calibrated to give percentage moisture content readings on clean, bare dust free concrete floor slabs, with a depth of penetration of approx. 20 mm (¾”). Readings taken on concrete slabs through paint, coatings, adhesives or other materials on the surface should be regarded as qualitative or comparative and not quantitative.

The 9800 Series is both a programmable AC source and measurement tool. These fully programmable linear AC sources deliver a maximum of 1500 VA through the universal line output terminals on the front and the output connector on the rear. The output can be varied from 0 to 300 V with 0.1 V programming resolution. The output frequency can also be adjusted from 45 Hz to 500 Hz with start and stop phase angle from 0 to 360 degrees. The bright VFD display shows Vrms, Irms, Ipeak, frequency, power factor (PF), apparent power, true power, and elapsed output time.

These AC sources provide a power line disturbance (PLD) simulator, list mode, and sweep mode for simulation of common power grid faults and disturbances. A built-in dimmer function is also available for testing motors and LEDs. List mode can be used to generate sequences of waveforms such as surges, sags, and frequency disturbances. The programmed list can be triggered from the front panel or via BNC connector on the rear.

Standard USB, RS232, LAN and GPIB* interfaces can be used to remotely control the source via a PC. Free application software and LabVIEW driver are available to reduce programming time and increase productivity.

To resolve these issues, the new Model PD3129 clips over the outside of conductors? insulation, enabling safe and easy phase detection at any point along the conductors. Four LEDs light in sequence to clearly indicate phase relationships even in dark environments, and positive or reverse phases can be indicated both visually and by an audible beeper.

The clips attach to conductors of up to 17 mm diameter at voltages between 100 and 600 V. To avoid battery depletion worries in the event that the operator neglects to turn the detector off, an auto-power-off feature turns it off about 15 minutes after turn-on. Continuous operating time on two common AA batteries is as long as 70 hours.

Large Clip Non-Metal Contact Phase Detector

Phase detection by clipping onto live wires has always presented hazards to the field technician, often requiring other personnel to be on standby in case the traditional metal clips come into contact with exposed wires or conductors. The HIOKI Phase Detector PD3129-10 helps alleviate the extra costs and cuts labor hours by providing a safe way to detect phase sequence on distribution panels and motors by incorporating fully enclosed ABS-molded clips with absolutely no metal exposure. In the instrument, an electronic induction voltage sensor is employed to enable accurate phase detection of insulated conductors. This innovative technology has enabled HIOKI to provide CATIV600V/CATIII 1000V safety characteristics often required by large power utilities and similar potentially hazardous working environments.

 

Design Concept

The Hioki PD3129-10 is designed to safely detect the phase sequence in three-phase circuits for electrical installation and maintenance. Conventional metallic-contact phase detectors are constructed with a voltage cable with standard metallic clips, requiring the technician to clamp onto exposed metallic parts of the conductor and introducing the potential danger of electric shock accidents and short-circuit accidents caused by accidental contact between two metal points. Needless to say, ensuring safety in electrical work has been an increasingly important issue. A long-standing proponent of safety at the workplace, HIOKI released the 3129 Non-Metallic Contact Phase Detector in 2004 and achieved the goal of ensuring a safe working environment for our users. To enable more electricians to take advantage of our advanced technology, we have increased the range of vinyl-insulated wires that can be clipped with the non-metallic voltage clips to up to 500 mm2 in size, and extended the operating voltage range to 1000V AC. With the all-new Phase Detector PD3129-10, safe phase sequence testing can now be conducted in even more environments where the previous non-metallic-contact phase detectors could never be safely applied.

The new range of insulation resistance testers consists of three models: two 5 kV units (MIT515 and MIT525) and a 10 kV unit (MIT1025). Resistance measurement is available up to 10 TO for the 5 kV models and 20 TO for the 10 kV model. The new instruments are smaller and lighter than previous models yet offer advanced features and rapid charge capability.

A key productivity feature is the ability to take measurements when connected to line power/mains with a dead battery. Intelligent battery charging ensures the optimum charge rate as a function of battery level, resulting in minimum charge times.

The rugged, unique dual case design provides the ultimate protection for a portable instrument and a clip-on lead pouch ensures that leads remain with the instrument at all times. The case lid is removable for improved terminal access. IP rating is IP65 with the case closed preventing water/dust ingress. High reliability and safety are built in; all models are safety rated to CATIV 600 V and are double insulated. Five preset voltage ranges are provided in insulation test mode, plus a user settable lock voltage range. Any selectable test voltage may be locked and restored via the selector switch, thereby increasing efficiency of commissioning and repetitive tests. Preconfigured diagnostic tests include Polarization Index (PI), Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR), dielectric discharge (DD), Step Voltage (SV) and ramp test. The ramp function gradually increases voltage up to a selected level while graphing current vs. voltage (graph downloadable). Graphs can be compared to example curves in IEEE 95-2002 to reveal a variety of faults difficult to detect otherwise. Small defects can be easily detected without risking the sudden large voltage increments produced by a Step Voltage test. Monitoring the developing graph during test enables the operator to terminate prior to breakdown, thereby reducing the possibility of damage to already flawed insulation. These units are particularly informative on polyester, asphalt and epoxy-mica insulations. They can also test voltage suppression devices.
